HISTORY

The Coletivo Acuenda, formed by artists from Jardim Romano, in the East Zone of São Paulo, is a remarkable cultural initiative that has been promoting artistic and performative actions in the neighborhood since 2014. Based at the Cultural Space Mansão das Queens, the collective began its activities with the event "Cabaret D'água," a multidisciplinary artistic spectacle where Drag art takes the lead, but which also includes theater, music, dance, and poetry. The event, held more than 500 times, is not only an artistic showcase but also promotes thematic discussions with each edition.

Among the group's standout actions are the artistic occupations "Rolezinho Drag" held in 2015 and 2016 on the CPTM’s Line 12 Safira, bringing performances aboard the train. In 2017, the collective premiered the show "PERIFERIDA," which toured the East Zone and was presented online in 2021. Their contributions to LGBTQIAPN+ culture and the strengthening of the arts in São Paulo’s outskirts have been recognized, such as by the PapoMix Diversity Award in 2018 and by the support of the Peripheral Culture Incentive in 2019, which allowed for sewing, drag characterization, and theater workshops for children in Jardim Romano.

In 2021, they debuted "BRILHO E BATOM - UMA VIVÊNCIA EDITADA," exploring the history of the pioneers of Drag art in São Paulo, and also held online editions of Cabaret D'água with support from the Aldir Blanc Law. In 2022, the collective participated in major events such as the Garanhuns Winter Festival and the Estéticas da Periferia event. In 2023, the collective launched the first Drag Map of Brazil, bringing together artists from the East Zone, South Zone, and Alto Tietê, and participated in the Virada Cultural at Sesc Pompeia and the Festival da Integração at Sesc Bertioga, both with Karaokêra Kerida, further solidifying their presence in the peripheral artistic scene.

Coletivo Acuenda continues to be an example of cultural resistance, amplifying voices and spaces for Drag art and diversity in the periphery.
